Happy Heating and Burning Season!

With the colder weather just around the corner all of us here at Boston’s Best Chimney would like to say Happy Heating and Burning Season!
Here are some friendly tips on how to start a fire in your fireplace.
First, you’ll want to be sure the flue is clean and clear from any blockages.
Our technicians recommend waiting for a cold day where the outside weather is 32°F or below. Even well drafting fireplaces may have trouble with draw if you don’t follow this guideline.
Now open up the damper, all the way!
Next, you’ll want to prime or warm up the flue. You can do this by taking a rolled up piece of newspaper, lighting it, and holding it right at the damper area. When you see the smoke rise up, you’re ready to build that fire. Small, very hot fires tend to burn the best. Oh, I can here the wood cracking now.
